Quick Start

Get PurpletGo set up and your first offboarding running in a few minutes.

Create your account

Go to app.purpletgo.com (opens in a new tab) and sign up with your work email. The first person to sign up becomes the Super Admin for your organization.

Invite your team

Navigate to Settings → Team and invite the people who'll handle offboardings. Roles you can assign:

  • Admin - full operational access, minus billing and org-hierarchy management
  • HR - manages offboarding checklists, compliance, exit interviews, and access revocation; bulk/layoff-style offboarding runs through HR too
  • Manager - creates and advances offboardings for their own reports
  • Developer - read-only visibility into offboarding and asset records

Add your employee directory

Go to Settings → Employees and either click Add Employee to add someone manually, or use Bulk Import to upload a CSV (columns: full_name, email, plus optional employee_id, job_title, department, phone, github_username). Your plan sets a cap on total employees - Free is 5, Starter 20, Growth 50, Team 100, Enterprise unlimited.

Create a checklist template

Checklist templates are a Starter-plan-and-up feature. Go to Settings → Templates and click New Template to build a reusable task list for a role, or import one of the pre-built templates from the gallery (Engineering, Sales, Finance, Healthcare, Legal, HR, Marketing, or Contractor/Vendor). On the Free plan, every offboarding just gets a default six-item checklist instead.

Start your first offboarding

Click Start Offboarding on the Offboarding board. The wizard walks you through four steps:

  1. Pick the employee from your directory and set their resignation date, last working day, and separation reason
  2. Select which connected integrations to revoke access to
  3. Set an asset return deadline and, if you're on Starter or above, apply a checklist template
  4. Review and confirm

Once created, the offboarding lands in the Notice Period column.

Advance through stages

Move the employee through the board as work gets done:

  1. Notice Period → knowledge transfer, exit interview
  2. IT Revocation → revoke access to every selected app (the stage won't let you move on until everything's revoked)
  3. Asset Recovery → confirm equipment has been returned
  4. Completed → the record is closed and the audit trail is final

Every checklist completion, status change, and access revocation is logged to the audit trail automatically - no extra setup needed.
